Oregon City Insider

Oregon City, OR Community

Oregon City has a lot going for it: the first incorporated city west of the Rockies, the only municipal elevator of its kind in the world, and a downtown that has quietly been building something worth paying attention to.

And now, right in the middle of it all, there is finally a real neighborhood market. Oregon City Market opened its doors on March 3, 2026, and it has already become exactly what its owners hoped: the kind of place that gives people a reason to stop, stay a little, and come back.

Two People, 20 Years of Roots, and One Very Good Idea

Jana Daisy-Ensign and Tim Ensign are the people behind Oregon City Market, and they are about as Oregon City as it gets. They have lived here for nearly 20 years, raised Christmas trees on a three-generation family farm, and spent decades in the craft beverage industry.

Between them, they bring over 40 years of experience across breweries, cider, retail grocery, and co-ops in Oregon and California. Jana serves as Marketing Director for the Northwest Cider Association and has worked with the Downtown Oregon City Association. Tim runs a craft beverage brand brokerage.

For years, they watched downtown Oregon City go without a real grocery option and decided to do something about it. The space at 610 Main Street became available in late December 2025, the timing felt right, and they went all in.

Not a Convenience Store. Not a Bodega. Something Better.

Oregon City Market describes itself as a locally owned micro grocer, and that distinction matters. “Micro” reflects the size. “Grocer” reflects the intent: stocking things people actually need, thoughtfully sourced and carefully chosen.

The 600-square-foot retail floor features custom Doug Fir shelving, live-edge wood accents, and big windows that fill the space with light. There is even a print from the Oregon City archives showing the historic grocery from the 1800s that once stood just feet away. That is not a coincidence. That is the whole point.

What Is Actually on the Shelves?

The rotating inventory is curated, not crammed. Expect to find:

  • Beer, wine, and cider with a genuine bottle shop focus
  • Grab-and-go sandwiches and locally made prepared foods
  • Pantry staples, grocery essentials, and specialty foods
  • Eggs, dairy, and a small selection of fresh produce from local farms
  • Fresh flowers, a robust tea section, and locally roasted coffee
  • Snacks, sweet treats, and seasonal items
  • Souvenirs, gifts, and home goods

The bottle shop alone is worth the trip. Jana and Tim know their craft beverages well and are happy to help you find the right wine for dinner, a great beer, or something you have never tried. Weekly tastings of hand-picked craft beer, wine, and cider are on the way. Check their calendar or sign up for the monthly newsletter to stay in the loop.

A Spot With Deep Community Roots

Oregon City Market sits in the Historic Waterfront District, just steps from the Oregon City Municipal Elevator, one of only a handful of public municipal elevators in the world, drawing over 100,000 visitors a year. The Arch Bridge and Willamette Falls are nearby, making this a natural stop for downtown regulars and visitors alike.

Mayor Denyse McGriff joined the ribbon-cutting on opening day, hosted by the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce with support from the Downtown Oregon City Association, a fitting welcome for a business that genuinely fills a need.
